‘Give pilots throughout all age teams precedence for Covid jabs’

NEW DELHI: An affiliation representing over 5,000 pilots in India has urged the federal government to contemplate them — throughout age teams and never simply above 45 — as frontline employees for Covid for precedence vaccination.
Expressing “disappointment” at being omitted from this class regardless of being within the forefront of the Covid battle from Day One, the Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) on Thursday wrote to Union well being ministry requesting that “industrial pilots in all age teams in India be categorised frontline employees in order that they might be given precedence and unrestricted voluntary entry to Covid vaccines.”

“Many pilots have been detected Covid optimistic within the line of obligation … some (pilots) have misplaced there lives or family members … whereas many classes of employees have been categorised frontline, industrial pilots of India have been omitted,” FIP president, Captain Surinder Mehta, says in his letter to the federal government.
FIP has identified that crew not being vaccinated “doesn’t augur nicely for passenger confidence (one thing) that might additional weaken monetary situation of the sector.”
FIP represents pilots of Indian industrial airways, regional and non-scheduled operators and personal jets.
