CHENNAI: The fifth version of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) will start from June 4, the TNCA introduced on Wednesday, saying the BCCI has given its approval to host the event in a bio-secure atmosphere.
“TNCA is glad to announce that BCCI has permitted the TNPL 2021 event. After getting mandatory approvals from the Authorities of Tamil Nadu, the event will begin on 4th June at Tirunelveli and the finals shall be performed on 4th July at Salem,” TNCA secretary R S Ramasaamy stated in a press launch.
“TNCA will observe strict customary working measures of bio bubble with frequent testing and quarantine guidelines as is being achieved for BCCI home matches, worldwide matches and with IPL.”
The event will open with a match between Dindigul Dragons and IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans in Tirunelveli.
The ultimate shall be performed in Salem on July 4. The event can be performed in a caravan format.
Matches shall be performed in Tirunelveli and Coimbatore other than Salem.
The event has eight franchises- Salem Spartans, Chepauk Tremendous Gillies, LYCA Kovai Kings, Madurai Panthers, Ruby Trichy Warriors, Nellai Royal Kings, Dindigul Dragons and IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans.
The 2020 version couldn’t be held because of the coronavirus pandemic.
